Message from Rose Manousaridis, Principal Wentworth Point Public School
Thank you to all the parents who attended and provided feedback at the Parent Forums this week. It was a pleasure to meet so many of you and I am looking forward to growing our beautiful new school together. We will shine !!!
The name of the school
Following community consultation I am in a position to advise you that Wentworth Point Public School has been secured as the name of the school.
Logo and motto
The logo and motto have been secured and I attach this information for your consideration.
The uniform has been secured although as discussed it is highly unlikely that the check fabric for the girls’ summer uniform will be ready by the beginning of the school year. At this stage I am suggesting that the girls wear the plain shorts or they can wear the sports uniform. It is not ideal but as we discussed at the meetings we do not have control over the limited amount of time we are operating in but the check will be worth waiting for and the girls will look fabulous in the dresses and/or skorts. I will advise you of how to purchase the uniform as soon as I am advised by Pickles, the uniform company.
Enrolments are currently being accepted at:
Victoria Avenue Public School
64-66 Victoria Avenue
Concord West NSW 2138
Given we have now secured the name, logo and motto of our school I will endeavour to implement strategies to facilitate communication with our parents and the community by:
· Providing information via Wentworth Point Community Central (Facebook page, www.wentworthpointcommunity.org, weekly email)
· Distributing flyers to local business owners including the new IGA opposite the school and real estate agents
· Beginning to build the school website
· Working with Schoolzine to prepare the app for download by parents and members of the community
Crossing and Drop Off Zones
I will raise these matters at the Project Reference Group meeting on 12/10
Building Progress Reports
I will raise this matter at the Project Reference Group meeting on 12/10
I am in the process of developing an A-Z Parent Handbook to assist families with orientation of Wentworth Point Public School and will make this available by Friday 3 November.
I have been advised that buses are not the domain of the Department of Education and are the responsibility Transport NSW. Please be advised that the private buses the department has been operating to and from Wentworth Point-Newington will cease at the end of the year.
Walking School Bus
Parents at the forums suggested a Walking School Bus which provides a safe, environmentally friendly and healthy method for children to travel to and from school. It encourages healthy exercise habits, strengthens children’s road safety awareness and decreases the use of vehicles and associated traffic congestion in the area. I will organise for a member of the P&C at Victoria Avenue Public School where the Walking Bus is operating successfully to attend the next parent forum to explain how we
might be able to introduce this at Wentworth Point.
Get Happier Project
As discussed at the parent forums, I include the link below in relation to a key program I would like to introduce into our school.
Given that the school building is still under construction, we are limited in providing a Kindergarten Orientation which actually orientates the children to the school and their teachers. My intention at this stage is to offer a Parent Forum to assist parents with transitioning their children to Kindergarten. I will advise you of the date as soon as possible.
I am currently based at Victoria Avenue Public School and can be contacted on telephone 97431352 and/or by email firstname.lastname@example.org
Please do not hesitate to contact me if I can be of assistance.

I acknowledge the Wangal people of the Eora Nation, who are the traditional custodians of the land along the southern shore of the Parramatta River and pay my respects to the Elders, both past and present, and to those of the future, for they hold the memories, the traditions, the cultures and the hopes of Aboriginal Australia.
