City of Parramatta Council has provided a presentation on traffic and transportation in our area.
It was provided as a PDF, and I can’t post a PDF to facebook, so I’ve captured each page as a picture.
A great thought from a local resident!
An opportunity to provide feedback on swimming sites along the Parramatta River.
We’ve been doing a lot of work to understand what we need to do to make the Parramatta River a place for all Sydney-siders to enjoy. We’ve created a shortlist of 12 possible swimming sites and would like you to tell us which ones you find the most desirable. To have your say, go to: www.sydneywatertalk.com.au/parramattariver
Reddy bikes have recently appeared around WP. We don’t know much, but I did find this story.
SYDNEY residents are about to see thousands of red bicycles scattered throughout the city, following the launch of a dockless bike-sharing service.
“Sydney seaside suburbs facing significant danger of inundation include Manly Vale, Kurnell, Caringbah and Cromer. Properties along the Cooks and Parramatta Rivers, in Arncliffe, Marrickville, Homebush Bay, Newington and Silverwater, are also at risk during high tides from rivers breaching their banks and storm waters backing up into residential neighbourhoods.”
BY ALEC SMART A newly released study by the University of NSW has confirmed that urban centres will experience intensified flooding as global temperatures
The area will cop a toll hike every three months for a road that’s already been paid off.

We’ve heard several reports of bicycles being stolen from Rhodes station. Please make sure you have a super strong lock if you’re leaving bikes there. Be alert!

WP Community Centre & Library – update from CoP Council
Work is moving ahead on the new community centre and library for the community of Wentworth Point at Footbridge Boulevard, next to the Bennelong Bridge.
Community consultation on the design and architectural plans was held in February and March and included a workshop with future users, stakeholders, local residents and community groups and an online survey.
Combined feedback was received from more than 180 people. Here’s what you told us.
“A welcoming centre for people of all ages and cultures.”
“A flexible use of rooms that can be made big or small.”
“Space for bike parking and live music.”
“Shade trees and a café/food trucks.”
We listened to what you said and the library will now include a children’s play and youth study space, a 24/7 book vending machine and a diverse range of collections. A café will be located on the ground floor next to the library.
The community centre will have several large and small flexible meeting rooms and function spaces, an art studio space, a multipurpose area for dance and other activities, music practice areas and a 24/7 co-working space for local microbusiness people.
The forecourt will provide opportunities for a variety of activities including performances, workshops, exhibitions and a place for general relaxation.
We have increased the budget to nine million dollars to make sure we can provide a facility that meets community needs.
A Development Application for the project will be lodged in August. Completion of the centre is anticipated to be mid-2018.
How will I stay up to date about the project?
Council is committed to working with the Wentworth Point community and will provide regular updates on the project as it progresses.
If you have any questions about the project or would like to be kept up to date about future community consultation opportunities, please email:
firstname.lastname@example.org or visit Council’s website by clicking here.

Trains, trains, trains … crowded trains. Interesting perspective on increase in patronage in the Olympic Park line
Sydney’s train strain
Demand for trains in Sydney has risen by almost 20 per cent on some lines in a year.
Passenger demand for trains in Sydney has risen by almost 20 per cent on some lines in just a year, new figures show, underscoring the strain on the city’s rail network.

Do you think this would work for the SOP / WP / Rhodes circuit?
Sydney commuters will get the chance to book shuttle buses from or near their home to a local transport hub as part of a state government trial of on-demand public transport.
