Strata and community associations …
Across WP, generally each building has its own owners corporation (although there are a number of cases where multiple buildings are part of one owner’s corporation). In some cases, a group of buildings roll up into a community association.
Both owners corporations (also known as strata) and community associations have committees that make most of the decisions. Committee members are elected at the AGM and are limited to 9 people.
Fundamentally, the role of the owners corporations and community associations is to manage their property, including common areas.
WPCC is a separate entity the owners corporations and community associations. It has a completely different purpose – social activities and events, communications, advocacy.
Please direct queries / comments about property and common areas to the relevant owners corporations and community associations – unfortunately, we don’t have details for most of these and there is reticence on the part of some that we do to have this information shared, so we’re not in a position to post it. I would like to think that these bodies would want to engage with the community that they are in place to serve, but unfortunately it doesn’t appear to be the case.
